I have fancied having a go racing mini-motos for a while now, ever since a spin at a pub charity do and an arrive and drive session which was a laugh until I went over the tyre wall.

Is there a class for old farts who have never raced and are not much cop? I'm interested in doing this for a laugh so just want to race a bog standard basic minit-moto that I can go out and buy and race from the box and not have to fiddle and tune and other expensive stuff. I'm over 12st and 40 (and don't want to be stuffed and embarrassed at every corner by a bunch of 10 year olds) so a novice old farts class for standard machines would be great.

If this is a go-er then does anyone hires bikes for racing so people like me can have a go before buying one?

I would suggest the 4.2 heavies. You need to be a minimum of 75KG in normal clothes and the 4.2 class bike is easy to maintain. Make sure it is a Polini air cooled 4.2 engine to be eligible for this class.
Lucky Devils will hire you a bike at a meeting to make sure it's for you.
There are several over 40's in this class, I'm 46!! and we are up to 16 stone!!

we have club members up to 69 years of age, and they should be old enough to know better!
